I shouldn’t be up right now. By all accounts I should be conked out, sleeping like a dead woman. I was so tired at the end of my night class today that I could barely stay awake for the last 40 minutes. Likewise when I got home and had a conversation with D. Could barely keep my eyes open. So I went to bed early. Of course, though – Murphy’s Law – half an hour later I woke up, just about writhing with menstrual cramps (sorry if you’re squeamish; I’m afraid I haven’t got much of a filter at the moment). Which leaves me here, sitting at my desk, very much awake, nursing a fresh mug of ginger tea, and feeling sorry for myself. I figured that I might as well catch up on blogging while I’m waiting for the cramps to subside.

Fortunately, the post that was next in my queue is a very sweet and pleasant one. I had some very sweet surprises that arrived by mail and hand delivery over the course of the last few days, and thought I would document them in Poladroid form. (Can you believe that I just discovered the awesomeness that is Poladroid yesterday? I’d been reading about it in one form or another on various blogs, but hadn’t actually downloaded it and tried it out myself. And now that I have – I’m in love! The imperfect look that they add to digital photographs is absolutely gorgeous, and it’s so much fun watching them “develop” on your desktop).
Anyway, here are my special deliveries, sent with love, and made sweeter by the miracle of Poladroid (click to view the original digital photos that they were made from):
I.
Flowers from D. They were waiting for me on the coffee table when I got home from AWP. ^_^

II.
A beautiful children’s book that was sent to me as a complete surprise, and for no reason other than that the book made her think of me, by a friend from college. I was so completely touched to receive this sweet gift in the mail. It made my Monday. ^_^ (Thank you, C.Sepe!)

That’s enough for now. My tummy feels better and now it’s time for me to head off to bed again. I’ll post tomorrow about the strawberry scones I made on Sunday.
<3.
I love Leo Lionni. “Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse” is another gem.
Chris
@ iheartfilm / Chris: ^_^. Thanks for the heads-up. I really loved “Frederick,” so I’ll have to check out the title you mentioned, too.
I love the book Frederick too. And Alexander, as well!
@ Robin: I see from your blog link that you are involved with WITS. That’s awesome! I would very much like to teach for WITS after I finish my MFA.
