Remarkably, everything in this lunch except for the broccoli came from the dining hall (the broccoli was leftover from a veggies-and-dip Bible Study snack). I think the only reason the dining hall had cheese cubes in the salad bar that night was because they were left over from platters they’d prepared for Parents’ Weekend receptions, but it suited my purposes quite well, and I grabbed a bunch to store in my fridge.
Originally, my lunch looked like this (I’d decided to suck up the loss of the bottom lid and just use plastic wrap instead):
But then it turned out that the tiers wouldn’t snap together, anyway, because the plastic cup with the hummus in it was too tall…so I was forced to move the bottom tier’s contents into my other container (which was too tall, but worked okay since the hummus was well protected in its cup and there was nothing particularly fragile or liquidy that might be bothered by being jostled into the extra space on top).
So then, my lunch looked like this:
Contents (Oblong container): Cut-up pita, cheddar cubes, cucumber flowers, broccoli (for dipping and garnish), blood orange segments.
Contents (Round container): Garlic hummus, cucumber wedge, broccoli, the rest of the orange (minus a segment I ate while I was making the lunch)
Not pictured: Pocky in the lid.
I really ought to think about investing in a box that’s a little taller than my (now-one-tiered) Happy Balloon set, but shorter than the Good Cooks round container. Or, perhaps, a new set entirely. There might be bento shopping coming up soon – one of my best friends from home and I plan to go browse around in North Jersey or NYC while we’re home over Spring Break (and I was also just promised a pho + Daiso date, probably for next quarter, by one of my friends at school…).
