My work ethic is officially shot. I spent most of yesterday making cookies and watching The Sound of Music with my Austrian roommate, who found the American “take” on Austria to be very amusing.
Today, I spent most of the afternoon wrapping said cookies / generally procrastinating.
Christmas is everywhere in our apartment, right now. I give you the following photographic evidence:
One of N’s yummy baked apples. Isn’t it beautiful? The stuffing makes it look a bit like a pomegranate.
Some of our $1.00 Christmas decorations (with my schoolwork in the background…)
Gingerbread Men (with peppermint sprinkles), Gingerbread Businessmen (with almond ties, courtesy of N) and Almond Rounds.
This is what I did instead of giving cards to my classmates: I bought a bag of holiday-flavored, Ghirardelli Chocolate Squares (which worked perfectly b/c they are individually wrapped), and taped a little paper sleeve outside on which I’d written greetings. I’m only sad I didn’t get to try one of the special flavors (peppermint bark, egg nog, pecan pie) myself – I had exactly enough to give away.
Wrapped up and ready to be given away. My mint plant looks healthier in this photo than in real life (I think it needs some water).
Enough for now. MUST concentrate …
..and i thought the apple was an onion ;]
@ simplyxme: haha. i guess it does kinda look like a red onion, with split, papery skin…
these posts are so lovely! simple and beautiful things =)
Are you going to come here at all over winter break?
@ Jess Shin:
No, unfortunately. 😦
I’d like to fly out for a weekend at the end of January to attend Listen to the Silence (I’m helping OT prepare a workshop that they’ll be presenting that weekend) – but I’m waiting to hear back from the Freshman Comp people to see if I’ve been accepted to teach next semester (which might mean that I’d have to be around that Friday) – before booking my tickets.
